How to unlock an HTC
Everything happens remotely using your IMEI number. Your HTC is unlocked at the carrier end and nothing is installed on it.
No matter what network your HTC is locked to
It ends exactly the same way
- Enter your device details Dial *#06# on the phone, or find it in Settings, About phone. We autodetect the model from it, so you do not need to know the exact variant.
- We email you the code Keep using the phone normally until then. Nothing is installed and nothing changes on it yet.
- Put in the new SIM Power the phone off, fit a SIM from the network you are moving to, power it back on.
- Type the code in once The phone asks for a network unlock code as it starts up. Enter it and the lock is gone for good.
Start with your IMEI

Unlocking a HTC — Frequently Asked Questions
Before you order
How long does it take?
It depends on the network your HTC is locked to — some clear in minutes, others take a few days. The estimate for your exact network is shown before you pay, once you have entered the IMEI, and you can follow progress on the tracking page from the moment you order. We email you as soon as it is applied.
Is it legal to unlock my HTC?
Yes. The handset is yours, and having it unlocked is legal in the UK, the US and across the EU. What stands in the way is your carrier's own conditions — a contract still running, a balance outstanding — rather than the law. We unlock by IMEI on the network side, so nothing on the phone is modified.
Do I have to connect it to a computer?
No. A Wi-Fi connection with the new SIM or eSIM in place is enough. There is no cable, no desktop software and nothing to download.
The code
Where do I enter the unlock code on my HTC?
Power the phone off, fit a SIM from the network you are moving to, and power it back on. It asks for a network unlock code as it starts up — enter the one we email you and the lock is gone for good.
Enter it exactly as it appears, and do not try codes from anywhere else first: only the code generated for your IMEI will be accepted.
Does it stay unlocked after an update or a factory reset?
Yes. Once the code is accepted the lock is gone for good, and neither a software update nor a factory reset brings it back.
Whether we can unlock yours
Can you unlock it while I am still paying the phone off?
Yes. An outstanding instalment balance or an active contract does not stop us. You still owe the balance to your carrier — unlocking does not cancel the debt — but it no longer stops you using another network.
I bought the phone second-hand and the account was never mine.
That is fine, and it is exactly the case carriers refuse. We do not need the account holder, the account number or any permission from them — only the IMEI.
I do not know which network it is locked to.
Use our IMEI network checker before you order. It reads the carrier off the IMEI, so you are not guessing at the dropdown.
What if the phone is reported lost or stolen?
We do not unlock handsets reported lost or stolen. An unlock removes a carrier lock, not a blacklist report, so a barred IMEI would stay barred anyway. We check this as part of processing your order.
Does unlocking affect my warranty or my data?
Neither. This is an IMEI unlock, not a root or a custom ROM — nothing is flashed and nothing on the handset is modified, so your photos, apps and messages are untouched.
Will it work with an eSIM?
Yes. Once unlocked the HTC accepts an eSIM from any compatible carrier, including travel eSIMs, and on models that support it you can run a physical SIM and an eSIM at the same time.
