We unlock more than just phones

Cellular tablets, cellular watches, mobile hotspots and AT&T-branded routers all carry their own IMEI, and all are unlocked exactly like a phone.

The one thing to get right is which IMEI you send us. Dial *#06# on the device you want unlocked, or find it in Settings >> General >> About.

Legal, and your warranty is untouched

Unlocking a phone you own is legal in the United States. The Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act of 2014 settled that, and the wireless industry's own Consumer Code commits carriers to unlocking eligible devices. The difference is that we do it without the conditions AT&T attaches.

This is an IMEI unlock, recorded on the network side — not a jailbreak, a root, or custom firmware. Nothing is installed and nothing on the handset is modified, so a warranty inspection or trade-in check has no change to find. Your photos, apps and messages stay exactly as they are.

What we do not need from you

No app to install. Nothing is downloaded to your phone and nothing runs on it.
No AT&T account access. No password, PIN, account number or permission from the account holder — which is why a second-hand or business-account handset is no harder than your own.

AT&T will unlock it at no charge — if you qualify

AT&T runs its own unlock service, does not charge its own customers for it, and usually approves a request in a few minutes — up to 48 hours at the outside. The catch is the eligibility list: your handset has to clear every condition below, not most of them.

60 days on AT&T, and not live on another AT&T account AT&T will not look at a device bought less than 60 days ago, and it must not be active on someone else's AT&T account. An AT&T Prepaid device needs 12 months of paid AT&T service instead. If you upgraded early, you wait 14 days before you can unlock the old handset — 30 days on a business account.
The handset has to be paid off in full You either paid for it outright or finished the instalment plan, and AT&T requires the instalment balance to be zero before it will unlock. If you settle the plan early, AT&T asks you to come back and make a fresh unlock request 24 hours later. Deployed military are the one exception AT&T publishes: with deployment papers you do not have to pay the device off first.
Your account has to be current If you are still an AT&T customer, the bill cannot be past due. A device owned by a business is a separate problem again: the company that controls the account has to authorise the unlock, and you cannot do it over their head.
A clean IMEI record The device must not have been reported lost or stolen, or flagged as involved in fraud. AT&T also states plainly that it can refuse any request it decides is an abuse of the policy, and that it will stop processing requests altogether from any source sending more than 100 a month where more than 10% are duplicate IMEIs.

With us

We work from the IMEI, not from an AT&T account, so none of those four conditions apply to us. A handset still inside its contract, still being paid off on an instalment plan, or bought secondhand by someone who was never the account holder can still be unlocked here. Our IMEI check is paid — it is not a free check, and we will not pretend otherwise. If we cannot complete the unlock you get your money back; the single exception is an IMEI that turns out to be blacklisted or barred on a national register, which is settled with a credit note rather than a refund.

Some AT&T devices unlock themselves — check before you pay anyone AT&T says an eligible Apple, Samsung or Google device on an AT&T Wireless plan should unlock on its own once it meets the requirements. Apple Watch is always unlocked. It costs nothing to look, so look first.

How to see whether it is already unlocked On an iPhone, open Settings, then General, then About, and scroll to Carrier Lock — "SIM locked" means it is still locked. On a Samsung released after 1 September 2025, it is Settings, Connections, More connection settings, Network lock status. On an older Samsung, look at Software information: a Service provider software version ending in ATT/ATT means the handset started life on AT&T.

When AT&T says no

Can you unlock my phone if AT&T says it is not eligible?

Usually yes. Carriers apply their own eligibility rules — minimum time on the network, balance paid off, account in good standing. We are not bound by those rules, so a handset AT&T will not unlock today can very often be unlocked by us today.

Can I unlock while I am still paying the phone off?

Yes. An outstanding instalment balance or an active contract does not stop us. You still owe the balance to your carrier — unlocking does not cancel the debt — but it no longer blocks you from using another network.

Do I need to wait out the carrier minimum period?

No. There is no waiting period on our side. That is the single most common reason people come to us rather than going through the carrier.

Do you need my AT&T account or the account holder?

No. We do not need the account holder, a password, a PIN, or any contact with AT&T. All we need is the IMEI, which you get by dialling *#06# on the handset.

What if I bought the phone second-hand?

That is fine. Ownership history does not affect the unlock — this is exactly the case carriers refuse, because the account was never in your name.

We do not unlock handsets reported lost or stolen. An unlock removes the carrier lock, not a blacklist report, so a barred IMEI would stay barred anyway. We check this for you as part of the eligibility check when we process your order.
